Greetings
from the Doss Volunteer Fire Department!
We hope this note finds you and your family healthy and ready to get
back to a normal life with COVID19 in our past. Due to COVID19 we were unable to hold our
annual Fish Fry and Prize Giveaway in 2020.
But with the help of your support we were able to operate our department
with the funds that were sent in. Thank
you for being there in our time of need.
With that being said, we are here once again ready to kick off our
donation drive for the Doss Volunteer Fire Dept.’s 37th Annual Fish
Fry and Prize Giveaway which will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
The mission
of the Doss Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the best possible first
response service for our community and mutual aid for the surrounding
area. The annual fish fry raises funds
to cover our annual operating costs, including necessary training and gear to
protect our fire fighters and equipment upgrades as required. With the past year behind us and the ice storm
of February 2021 we realize the importance of keeping our fire station fully
functional during emergencies. During the Ice Storm we were able to run power
at the fire station with generators that were borrowed. This helped us keep our equipment ready to
respond to emergencies as well as provide a place for folks in the Doss area to
warm up, eat a hot meal, take a shower and get water for their use as well as
water for livestock. Our members went
out into the community to do wellness checks and help those who needed to be
moved to a place of warmth and delivered hot meals. Communication was also very
important since the generators let us run our base station which was one of the
few ways we could communicate with dispatch in Fredericksburg. We are now in the process of analyzing what our
needs are to provide emergency power to our fire station and drilling our own
well to provide water for the station. This fund raiser will help us in attaining
these goals.

830-669-2352 by July 1, 2021. Your
donations of $100 or more may be applied towards our grand prize or other major
prizes. We are also seeking sponsors to
help defray the cost of the Fish Fry itself.

We look

Fry. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. at the
