It has come to our attention that there has been donation solicitations for our fire department via email/messaging. Note that this is not a legitimate form of donating to us and we are not sending these messages. If you receive one of these, please contact us.

The only valid online donation method is through our square page which can be found at www.dossvfd.org/donate.

2020 Doss Fish Fry Cancelled

For the first time in 37 years the Doss Volunteer Fire Department will be cancelling their Labor Day weekend Fish Fry.  The event, which was scheduled for September 5th, typically draws over 3,000 visitors and is successful thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers.  Good food, cold beverages, an outstanding prize lineup and fine music always provide an enjoyable venue.  However, an afternoon of fellowship is the biggest draw.  With growing concerns and restrictions regarding coronavirus we do not see a way to provide this atmosphere without risking the well being of our guests and volunteers.

The department relies on profits from the annual fish fry to fund operating costs.  As previously communicated to potential donors, funds donated for this year’s fish fry and prize giveaway will be reallocated to the department’s operating budget.  We are grateful to all previous and future donors for enabling us to continue providing first response service to the community and surrounding area.  More information on the department can be found at dossvfd.org and the department’s address is P.O. 2020 Fish Fry Donation Request

Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Doss Volunteer Fire Department!  We hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and adjusting to the effects of Covid19.  It is hard to know what the future holds with the uncertainty we are navigating.  At this time of year we are usually gearing up for the Annual Doss Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry and Prize Giveaway.  This would be our 37^th year to have this event and, at the writing of this letter, we are still unsure if we will be able to have this important fund raiser.

The mission of the Doss Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the best possible first response service for our community and mutual aid for the surrounding area.  The annual fish fry raises funds to cover our annual operating costs, including necessary training and gear to protect our fire fighters and equipment upgrades when required.  We are once again asking for your financial support to allow achieving our mission.

Funds donated will be held until we decide if the Fish Fry and Prize Giveaway can be held this year.  Should we decide that we cannot safely hold this event, your donations will be used to provide essential operating funds. In either case, donors will receive public recognition. Enclosed is a self-addressed envelope for your convenience.  If you need more information you may also visit our web site at dossvfd.org.
